Upstate with Ali and Cairo

We were lucky enough to visit Alison and Cairo upstate this week. It was a nice vacation from the hot, dirty city plus there were goats to feed and diner ice creams to mush all over our clothes and faces.

Just me and my pop handing out flyers for the Northside Festival, which starts Thursday!

Now where's my mini Northside tee-shirt?

Santa Fe

We went to Santa Fe, NM

the desert is so strange and beautiful

Scott and Louise read books on the plane

Louise runs even faster (we didn't think it was possible), when she's on a moving walkway.

Luke and Natalie got married.
She looked like an old fashioned Italian bride who walks through a hilltop
town with villagers following her making music.

Louise wore a satin dress that was the color of a New Mexico sunset

She and Lila were the belles of the ball (at least until bed time)

A good night dance with daddy.

But the trip was most exceptional for 2 best cousins

who danced to Mariachi music together,

ate red and green chili sauce on their eggs together (not really),

and co-piloted a trip to the moon together.

Louise Meets Miranda July

On our way to the new playground in Union Square park we happened upon an outdoor installation of Miranda July's interactive sculptures and Ms. July herself. As a fan of her short stories and art/performance/video, I was a little star-struck.

She and her media entourage thought Louise was really cute, especially when she perched herself atop the works and mugged for the cameras.

Cousins!

Louise got the rare chance to lunch with her two best cousins last week in Boston. Addie, who's almost 3 and Lila who's just three and a half months older than Louise are the main characters we talk to on our pretend phones and talk about when we're heading north for a visit. What a lucky girl!

As you can tell these girls were a silly squirming troika of love, nearly impossible to wrangle into form.

Nearly Healed and Ready for Yoga

As soon as I roll out my yoga mat Louise starts flipping around and standing on her head. I think we can take that as a sign that she's feeling like her old self again.
