Coney Island Baby

On Saturday Scott took Louise to the Coney Island Aquarium for a special daddy/daughter day. Mom took advantage of their absence by tackling a bit of creative work at home. This explains why Louise, posed with disheveled hair and scrunched up leggings, looks marooned in front of the aquarium entrance (the signature photographic stylings of her lone cameraman dad). As reported to me upon their return they had a great time and even enjoyed a chilly stroll on the Coney Island boardwalk (where was her hat Dad?).

Our Big Girl

Some mornings when you bound smilingly into your child's bedroom and direct your eyes to the tiny face with the pint-sized body, you think to yourself, Oh my! My little girl has grown! A fact easily verified by heaving the wee tot's extra girth from the depths of the crib and into your arms. Over just one night her face has changed, new teeth have sprouted, and the non-slip feeties on her 9-12 month sized pajamas have forced her cramped toes into unnatural yogic bends. It's a miracle I tell you. And I wouldn't believe it myself unless I had witnessed it with my own two eyes.

Central Park Zoo

What better way to spend a 20 degree day than to visit a primarily outdoor zoo? Well that's just what we did. Though the temperature kept our tour short we had enough time to behold all the lovely creatures, great and small, living in this jewel box of a zoo. It was incredible to watch Louise's amazement as the beasts from her books and stuffed animal collection came alive right before her eyes.

Side note:
MISSING: One baby sized lime green mitten. Lost somewhere between the polar bears and the lemurs. If found or spotted on the hand of a snow monkey please report to your nearest zoo keeper. Thank you.

And Did We Mention That the Kid's Walking?

Walking yes! Completely, quickly, and exclusively walking at the clip of a young foal. She's tossed crawling out the window and is full steam ahead on those chubby gams. She's actually been doing it for a couple weeks but we've somehow forgotten to mention the big news, probably because it seems so natural now- that's how easy she makes it look. One of these days we'll get a video up of some live action events!

New Years in Great Barrington

We hunkered down through a blizzardy weekend in the Berkshires to celebrate the start of the new decade. Happy 2010 from Louise and her folks!
